I painted my first oil painting at the age of thirteen, and for more than thirty years this medium has remained at the heart of my practice.
My artistic education combines the study of the Old Masters, particularly through copying, with formal training at the Fine Arts Schools of Quimper and Brest. In my early years, I also worked alongside Pierre Lorthioire, painting directly from nature, often in acrylics, an approach that sharpened my observation of the natural world and complemented my studies in museums.
After a period away from oil painting due to allergies, I returned to the medium through the use of water-mixable oils. Since 2024, rather than starting new canvases, I have focused on revisiting and developing existing works, some begun more than twenty years ago. This sustained process of reworking has become a central aspect of my practice.
The watercolor studies produced during my travels form the basis of many of my oil paintings. These undated and currently unsigned canvases are revisited over time, allowing each work to mature gradually through successive stages of development.
