About the Artist

Born in Brittany, France, Sébastien Danion was born in Quimper in 1973. Painting has occupied a central place in his life since the age of six. He began his artistic training at a young age at the Quimper School of Fine Arts, before continuing his studies in Brest and Rennes, where he developed a strong and enduring artistic practice.

Alongside his professional career as a teacher, he has continuously pursued a demanding personal artistic journey. Although he does not make his living exclusively from painting, it remains an essential part of his daily life.

Sébastien Danion is an artist deeply committed to working directly from nature. He began painting outdoors in Finistère, notably under the guidance of the painter Lorthioire. This direct engagement with the natural world continued through numerous journeys to Italy, Sicily, and Greece. During these travels, he filled many watercolor sketchbooks, capturing landscapes, light, and atmosphere.

Back in the studio, he develops a colorful figurative oil painting practice, enriched by his observations and experiences in the field. His work therefore moves between direct observation and studio reinterpretation.

Sébastien Danion has presented his work in two exhibitions, held respectively in a bank and a shopping center. These experiences provided him with valuable insight into the practical realities and demands of a professional painter's career.

Now based in Budapest, he continues to expand his artistic practice through drawing and sculpture courses. He is also a regular visitor to Europe's major museums, where he studies some of the most important works in art history, continually enriching both his reflection and technique.
