Stechelberg was the pleasant surprise of this journey. After a train ride surrounded by dense crowds of tourists, I feared once again encountering the excesses of tourism, which seems to have become omnipresent. Yet, at the cable car station, most of the travelers disappeared, drawn toward the best-known destinations.
Continuing on to the end of the valley, I discovered a different world: a world of hikers, silent valleys, and towering peaks. Each day, covering long distances on foot, I sketched and painted on location, letting the landscapes guide my eye.
The inspiration born in the museums of Zurich found its fulfillment here. Confronted with nature, drawing and watercolor once again became essential gestures, a way of preserving a fleeting moment of light and the memory of a landscape in constant motion.
